When endings make space for new beginnings

As summer flies by, I’ve been feeling something deep within me shifting, as if the final pieces of my “old life” are quietly falling away. My dad recently sold his house and is moving into a new one. This was the last place my mom ever was, and knowing I’ll never be able to walk through those familiar rooms again feels… unnatural.

I know she’s all around me. I know love isn’t confined to a place. But grief is funny that way: it has a way of finding new doors to open, new corners of the heart to press against. A simple, ordinary change can stir up waves that feel anything but simple.

As I consciously step forward into this new phase of my life, I’ve booked a BodyTalk session to help guide me. I know becoming this next version of myself won’t happen overnight. It will be slow, tender work, more like raising a child than flipping a switch. I’m reminding myself daily: kindness, patience, love. Always.

This week’s card, Groundhog Spirit, feels like it arrived just for this moment. Groundhog teaches us that endings are not to be feared; they are simply the clearing of space so something new can take root. Like the groundhog retreating to its den, we, too, may need time to pause, reflect, and say a gentle goodbye to what has run its course.

Letting go is rarely comfortable. But Spirit is already weaving new blessings in my life, even if I can’t yet see them. What is ending has done its work. What’s coming next will be even more aligned, more nourishing, more true.

So I’m choosing to trust the transition. I’m honouring the closing chapter while keeping my heart open for the next.

And I wonder…
When was the last time you stepped into a new version of yourself?

Embracing the Light: A soulful guide to the summer solstice

The Summer Solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year—a radiant turning point in the wheel of the seasons. It’s a celebration of life, warmth, abundance, and the full power of the sun. Spiritually, it’s a time to pause, reflect, and align with your light and the rhythms of nature.

As the sun reaches its peak, so do we. Energetically, we are being invited to shine brightly, to step into our fullness, and to honour how far we've come. Below are gentle yet powerful ways to celebrate the Solstice and embrace your own soulful expansion.

  1. Rise with the Sun
Welcome the light by waking up early to witness the sunrise. It’s a powerful way to honor new beginnings and set intentions for the season ahead.

  2. Reflect on Your Growth
Just as nature is in full bloom, take time to journal about how you’ve grown since the Winter Solstice. What have you blossomed into?

  3. Set Heart-Centered Intentions
Use the peak energy of the sun to plant new soul seeds. Focus on what you want to expand in your life – love, courage, creativity, clarity.

  4. Connect with Nature
Celebrate the sun’s power by spending time outdoors. Ground yourself with bare feet on the Earth, gather herbs or flowers, or take a walking meditation.

  5. Create a Fire or Candle Ritual
Fire represents transformation. Light a candle or small fire and speak your intentions aloud, or release what you’re ready to let go of.

  6. Host a Solstice Gathering
Even something simple – a sunset picnic or circle with friends – can amplify joy, gratitude, and connection.

  7. Move Your Body in Celebration
Dance, practice sun salutations, or go for a hike. Let movement be a prayer of gratitude to your body and the Earth.

  8. Make a Solstice Altar
Include symbols of summer: sunflowers, citrine, shells, oranges, and candles. Use it as a sacred space to meditate or journal.

  9. Tune Into Your Inner Light
The sun may be shining at its fullest, but this is also a time to honor your inner radiance. What lights you up?

  10. Offer Gratitude to the Sun
Whether it’s a few words, a written note, or a moment of stillness, express your gratitude for the warmth, life, and light the sun brings.

May this Solstice be a sacred invitation back to yourself—your light, your joy, your radiance.
You are a mirror of the sun.
You are here to shine.

Happy Summer Solstice, lovelies.

Keep Moving: Lessons from a muddy brain

Today, my brain feels like it's full of mud.

Thick, heavy, slow-moving mud. The kind that makes it hard to start anything, let alone finish it. Motivation is nowhere to be found.

So, I’m meeting myself where I’m at.
One task.
One actionable item.
One small step forward at a time.

This is something I’ve been working on—a lot. For most of my life, I’ve struggled with the “all or nothing” mentality. If I didn’t have time to finish a project in one go, I wouldn’t even begin. My neuro-spicy brain likes clean starts and satisfying finishes. But let’s be real—life, especially mom life, rarely offers uninterrupted time for anything.

When I was younger, my mom used to gently tease me about this. I’d have art supplies spread across the table, half-written stories tucked into drawers, or half-cleaned rooms mid-project. She’d laugh and say, “Ashley, you’re the queen of starting things.” It was her way of pointing out that I often had more ideas than follow-through. And she wasn’t wrong.

But now I understand it differently. I see that I wasn’t lazy or distracted—I just hadn’t yet learned how to work with my brain.

So here I am today: not waiting for the perfect block of time, not waiting to feel perfectly inspired, but practicing what it means to just start. And if I have to stop and come back later? That’s okay. That’s progress, too.

On low-energy days like this, I sometimes shift my focus to self-care—making my bed, washing a dish or two, folding laundry with music on. Tending to myself and my space becomes the work. Because the worst thing I can do is stop completely. Getting going again takes so much more effort than simply staying in motion, even if the motion is slow and gentle.

This journey we’re all on—this spiritual, human, ever-evolving path—isn’t about perfection. It’s about discovery. Learning who we are. Noticing how we show up. Making small updates to align with who we want to be. One task at a time.

So today, I ask you:
What is something you’ve learned or discovered about yourself this month?
I’d love to hear it—let’s grow together.

Taking Control: Creating Space for My Health Goals

Sometimes, life has a way of giving us little nudges when we need them most. Recently, I received a card reading that couldn’t have been more on point. It was a reminder that I need to take things into my own hands—especially when it comes to my health and well-being. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of daily life, with responsibilities pulling me in all directions. But that reading was a wake-up call, urging me to prioritize one of the most important aspects of my life: my physical health.

For me, this has meant working to make time in my day for exercise. As someone who believes deeply in the connection between mind, body, and spirit, I know how vital movement is—not just for physical fitness, but for mental clarity and emotional well-being too. Still, knowing something and doing something about it are two very different things. The gap between intention and action is often wider than we expect. So, I’ve been asking myself: how can I close that gap?

✨The Importance of Taking Action
The card reading resonated with me because it reminded me of something I’ve always known deep down: every goal, whether it’s personal, spiritual, or health-related, requires daily, actionable steps. Success doesn’t just happen because we dream about it. It happens because we commit to making progress each day, no matter how small the steps may seem.

I’ve often found that when I start focusing on a goal, especially something like getting fit, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the “bigger picture.” Thoughts like How am I going to fit in all these workouts? or Will I ever get back into shape? can paralyze us before we even begin. But the truth is, every journey starts with a single step.

What the card reading reminded me of is that I have the power to create space in my life for what matters. I have control over how I choose to spend my time, and I can prioritize my health just like I would any other important aspect of my life. It doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing approach. Some days might only allow for a quick 15-minute workout, and that’s okay. What matters is that I’m showing up for myself every day, in whatever way I can.

✨Making Space for Health
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that making time for health isn’t about “finding” the time; it’s about creating it. Time doesn’t just appear out of thin air—especially when we lead busy lives. Whether it's work, family, or other commitments, there will always be demands on my time. But I’ve come to realize that these demands are more manageable when I take control of how I allocate my time.

I’ve been working on scheduling my workouts the same way I would schedule a meeting or a call with a client. Once it’s on the calendar, it becomes non-negotiable. This has been a game-changer for me, as it helps me avoid the “I’ll do it later” trap. And once I get that workout in, I feel more grounded and energized for everything else in my day.

✨Small Steps, Big Impact
Every goal requires actionable steps, and this journey toward fitness is no different. I’ve started focusing on small, achievable goals. Instead of aiming for an intense hour-long workout every day, I’m beginning with what’s realistic. Some days it might be a 30-minute yoga session; other days it might be a brisk walk or a strength-training circuit.
What matters most is the consistency. By showing up for myself every day, I’m building momentum. And with each small step, I’m creating a positive feedback loop. The more I move, the better I feel, and the more motivated I am to keep going.

This idea of taking control and taking daily action has spilled over into other areas of my life as well. I’m finding that when I commit to small, consistent efforts, I feel more empowered and more aligned with my true self. It’s a reminder that big dreams—whether they’re related to health, career, or personal growth—are built on the foundation of small, intentional actions.

✨Trusting the Process
I’ve also come to understand that success, especially in fitness, isn’t linear. There will be days when I’m tired, when life gets in the way, or when I just don’t feel like working out. And that’s okay. It’s important to be kind to myself in those moments and remember that every effort counts. Even on the tough days, I’m still moving closer to my goals because I’m choosing to take control of my health.

The card reading reminded me that I am responsible for creating the life I want. It’s a call to action: to trust the process, to keep taking those small steps, and to know that everything I’m doing is moving me toward a healthier, more vibrant version of myself.

✨The Takeaway
If there’s one thing I hope you take away from my journey, it’s this: you have the power to create space in your life for your health and well-being. No matter how busy or overwhelmed you feel, you can take control of your time and prioritize what matters most. Start small. Commit to showing up for yourself every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Over time, those small steps will add up, and you’ll begin to see the transformation you’ve been working toward.

Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination. So be kind to yourself, take it one step at a time, and trust that you’re on the right path. After all, you’re the one in control.
